‹ BACK TOM PRICE, INDUSTRY GALLERY, WASHINGTON DC
Occupying an entire room at Industry Gallery, PP Trees, a unique, immersive, site specific installation offered visitors an atmospheric welcome to the exhibition. Made exclusively from polypropylene pipe and nylon cable ties, the work pays homage to Washington DC's own iconic cherry trees, whilst questioning our relationship with and attitudes towards plastics. The longevity and ready availability of the industrially manufactured materials used to construct the installation stands in stark contrast to the ephemerality and natural beauty of the cherry trees and blossoms it emulates.
In addition to PP Trees, this solo exhibition introduced lighting, new Meltdown Chairs including Bronze #1, PE Stripe, PE Pink, PP Tube #1 Black, and the first painting in the Meltdown Series, PP EXP #1.
