'Eye' is a paranoid mechanical interpretation of the reflex functions of the eye. Here the contractions and expansions of the iris and the movement of the eyelid are translated as a defence against intrusion and discovery.
Through this very primitive form of defence, 'Eye' questions notions of power, paranoia, fear and authority.
An oversized video of an eye looks through a spy hole in a wall, watching people in the room. As soon as it is approached a motion sensor triggers a mechanism which causes hidden shutters to slam shut.
The shutters will only reopen once the intruder has moved away. However, if the intruder stays very still 'Eye' will trust that it is safe and reopen, but as soon as it senses movement it will slam shut again.
